Hear & Share blood glucose from Dexcom G7 CGM securely on iOS, macOS and tvOS—no sign-up required. Stay on top of Time in Range (TiR) with CGM and/or Apple Health.

ShuggaShugga (the Shugga app family) is an iPhone and Mac app, with CarPlay support, that reads your blood glucose out loud. It gets readings three ways: straight from a Dexcom G7 over Bluetooth, from Apple Health (Dexcom G6, or a G7 without a direct connection), or from a Nightscout server. Each new reading goes to speech, widgets, Live Activities and StandBy. It can also go through an optional end-to-end-encrypted relay to your other devices or to family members. ShuggaShugga has a separate tvOS version. It gets readings either from that encrypted relay (shown as “iCloud Sync”) or directly from Nightscout. It shows the current value full-screen, speaks it with the same voice controls, and can keep the Apple TV awake so the number stays on screen. A small Bloody Simple Share server moves the encrypted data between devices and never sees a glucose value.

• Spoken readings: uses the device’s own speech voices. You can set the voice, language, speed, volume, unit, how often it speaks, and whether it says the source (“From Nightscout”) and when the reading was taken.
• Direct Dexcom G7 over Bluetooth: reads the sensor’s broadcasts and keeps listening in the background, so it doesn’t wait for Apple Health to update.
• Three data sources with a fallback: Health, direct CGM or Nightscout. If a Bluetooth reading doesn’t arrive in time, it uses the latest Health sample instead.
• Timing around the sensor: background wake-ups are planned around the sensor’s 5-minute cycle. You can have it wait for the freshest reading, speak right away, or pick automatically for your iPhone.
• Activity triggers (“When Detects”): it can speak when it detects walking, running, cycling, driving, flying, being over US waters, sitting still, or the time after a meal.
• Encrypted sharing (Bloody EASY Share): readings are encrypted on the device. The key is shared only through your private iCloud, so the relay server can’t read the data. Push notifications only say “new data available.”
• Widgets, Live Activities, StandBy and Nightstand view: widget refreshes are limited to once a minute so iOS’s daily refresh limit isn’t used up.
• Warnings: alerts for old data and Bluetooth problems, with adjustable repeat intervals. If a new reading interrupts speech, it says “Excuse me…” first.
• Units and languages: mg/dL or mmol/L with local decimal separators and an English “skip hundred” shortcut. The screens are in English, German and Japanese, and the tests cover spoken announcements in about 10 languages.
• Shugga TV big-screen display: a full-screen reading with its age (“Updated 3 minutes ago”), adjustable check intervals for the relay and Nightscout, and a setting that keeps the Apple TV awake.
• Shugga TV security: the Nightscout password or token is kept in the Apple TV Keychain. The TV joins the encrypted relay under its own device name, wakes on a silent push, and decrypts the reading on the TV itself.
